Dr. Bartlett has a private practice consisting of Cosmetic, E.N.T., and Hand Surgery. Dr. Bartlett was a clinical instructor for the Plastic Surgery Division of the University of Missouri School of Medicine in Columbia, Missouri and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at Texas Tech University Health Science Center School of Medicine in Odessa, Texas.

Dr. Bartlett began and is past president of the W.T.P.A. (Western Texas Physicians Alliance). He graduated from the University of Missouri School of Medicine in Columbia, Missouri in 1967. In the following ten years he completed his residencies in General Surgery at Tampa General Hospital, Tampa, Florida; Otolaryngology at City of Memphis Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee; Plastic Surgery at Medical Center Hospital, Columbia, Missouri; and was a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy stationed in Beaufort, South Carolina where he was Chief of the E.E.N.T. Department at the Beaufort Naval Hospital.

Dr. Bartlett has board certifications in Head and Neck Surgery, Otolaryngology, Plastic Surgery, and is a Kleinert Hand Fellow at the University of Louisville.

Dr. Bartlett makes available to his patients his 30 years of experience and knowledge obtained from attending over 200 symposiums covering the cutting edge of Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Bartlett was the first Plastic Surgeon in private practice in the Permian Basin and started the Oral Maxillofacial - Cleft Clinic. He has pioneered Liposuction, Endermologie, and Cutaneous Laser Treatments in the Permian Basin.

Biography

Dr. Bartlett was born in Gordon, Nebraska while his parents were living on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. Most of Dr. Bartlett's primary education was obtained in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Bartlett's first training was in Metallurgical Engineering at the University of Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy. The three years following his graduation from Engineering school he worked as a Metallurgical Engineer for Inland Steel Corporation in East Chicago, Indiana. During these 3 years, he attended night school to obtain the necessary pre-requites for medical school and started a successful heat treating business that is still in existence.

Dr. Bartlett then went to the University of Missouri School of Medicine in Columbia, Missouri to obtain his medical degree. He did his first post graduate training in Otolaryngology and Maxillo facial surgery in Tampa General Hospital, Tampa, Florida, and at the University of Tennessee, City of Memphis Hospital, in Memphis, Tennessee. Following this training Dr. Bartlett was a Lieutenant Commander in the Navy for two years and Chief of the E.E.N.T. Department at Beaufort Naval Hospital in Beaufort, South Carolina. He received his board certification in Otolaryngology and Maxillo Facial Surgery in 1972. Upon completion of his military obligations, he did his Plastic Surgery residency at the University of Missouri, Columbia, Missouri, then went to the prestigious Kleinert Hand Surgery fellowship in Louisville, Kentucky.

Dr. Bartlett opened his private practice in Midland, Texas in 1977. He was the first Plastic Surgeon in private practice in the Permian Basin and started the multi-disciplinary Oral Maxillo Facial - Cleft Clinic at the Permian Basin Rehabilitation Center. He was board certified in 1978.

Dr. Bartlett pioneered Liposuction, Endermologie, and Cutaneous Laser Treatments. He also has extensive experience in Maxillo Facial burn trauma, head trauma, and replantation of amputated parts. His cosmetic surgery experience goes back to 1969 where he independently performed his first Face-Lifts, Rhinoplasties, and Blepharoplasties. He began Liposuction in March 1983 and was one of the first Physicians to perform Liposuction in the state of Texas. Dr. Bartlett also has extensive experience in the use of lasers including Yag Lasers, Co2 Lasers, Diode Lasers, Ruby Lasers, Alexandrite Lasers, Copper Vapor Lasers, and Pulsed Dye Lasers.

Cosmetic Surgery Innovation

With liposuction there has been a movement to limit the volume of fat removal with a single procedure to 5 Liters. Dr. Bartlett has devised a method of removing volumes in excess of 14 Liters in a safe and predictable manner.

Dr. Bartlett performs a different procedure for breast augmentation than most plastic surgeons. The statistics submitted to the FDA by Mentor Corporation and McGhan Corporation (the two major breast prosthesis manufacturers) of undesirable effects of breast augmentation from a 3 year study compares to Dr. Bartlett's statistics for 10 years. If Dr. Bartlett was doing the same procedure as plastic surgeons in general he should have a significatly higher rate because of the longer duration of his study. When you look at his statistics you find it is the opposite. Statistical analysis of the rate of undesirable side effects of Dr. Bartlett's results compared to two large studies of two large groups of plastic surgeons are included in the breast augmentation page. Dr. Bartlett does not agree with the current trend of very invasive procedures in face lifting. His procedure not only tightens the face, it changes the shape of the face and patients are usually able to return to work in one week.
