About Dr. Michael S. Bumagin
Dr. Michael S. Bumagin is a Fort Worth Plastic Surgeon who has been in practice for over 30 years and has maintained a private practice in Fort Worth for over 20 years. Although best known in the DFW area for his tattoo removal project to remove tattoos from former gang members, Dr. Bumagin also performs many other procedures.
Dr. Bumagin received his undergraduate degree from Columbia University in New York City. Following his graduation he worked as a medical research technician at the Mt. Sinai Hospital where he worked with Dr. Lisa Tallal, a renowned hematologist from Texas, who encouraged him to enter medical school. Dr. Bumagin received his MD from The University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 1968. While in medical school Dr. Bumagin studied under Dr. James Hendrix, who inspired him to pursue a career in plastic surgery.
He interned in Dallas, at the Baylor University Medical Center. Following that he served for three years in the U.S. Army Medical Corps in Stuttgart, Germany. After his return to the U.S., he completed a general surgery residency at Baylor followed by a plastic surgery residency in Memphis at The University of Tennessee Affiliated Hospitals where Dr. Hendrix was Chief of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Bumagin also spent a portion of his training with Dr. Lee Milford, Chief of Hand Surgery at the Campbell Clinic in Memphis.
Dr. Bumagin is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and is a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
His current hospital appointments include Baylor Southwest, Baylor All Saints, Harris Southwest, Kindred Southwest, LifeCare, and Regency Hospitals in Fort Worth, Texas. He has served on numerous hospital and medical society committees ensuring quality care for people living in North Texas.
